Fitness. One of my main passions in life.
Growing up I played every sport I could get my hands on – soccer, basketball, volleyball, track, lacrosse, softball, etc. Kinda a tom-boy this one! Went on to play collegiate soccer for the UMD Bulldogs.
After college I found myself kinda lost as I was used to the routine of practice, games, and tournaments. I have also always had teammates and coaches to push me and hold me accountable.
I turned to athletic events as a way to stay on track. It started with 5ks, 10ks, and worked up to half marathons and eventually my first full marathon. I’ve also completed multiple duathlons, triathlons, mud runs, and Ragnar Relays. Check out the full list of what I’ve completed thus far. These accomplishments did not come over night.
Never thought I would get in to triathlons (swimming, what?!) – let alone complete a half Ironman! We all start somewhere and once I complete an event I get the itch of “what’s next?!”
2016 is all about redemption as I am signed up for two more half IM’s – Ironman 70.3 Boulder and 106 West Dillon. Who knows what I’ll put my body through in the future!
When you know what event you are registered for you can plan your training schedule accordingly. The hard work comes during the “practice/training” and the reward is during the “game/race”. Love this mentality and it has worked for me!
Triathlons are no joke. The training, the cost, the time commitment. But I have never felt so motivated and at home with such an inspiring, supportive community.
Because I love motivating others and team environments, it is natural that I turned to group fitness. I completed Life Time Academy to help pass the exam to become an ACE Certified Group Fitness Instructor in Sept 2014. I am also certified in TRX, IndoRow and Shockwave, have taught at three group fitness studios, and have also dabbled in personal training.
I love group fitness as the instructor holds you accountable, the workout is efficient, and the environment is plain ol fun! Since moving to Colorado I have not been teaching and I MISS IT! Looking at options to get back in to it now
Fitness been an essential part of my life and continues to change me for the better.
What is one of your main passions in life and how has it changed the person you are today? Would love to hear from you!
