Week THREE! Holy smokes this year is flyin by already!
If you didn’t have chance to check out what had me all motivated during week 1 and week 2 – get caught up ya lazy bum!
The major motivator I have going on right now is group fitness. It really is tough to stay in a routine on your own and this is where group fitness comes in. It’s freaking genius. You are held accountable to show up yet do not have to plan your own workouts. You are guaranteed to be pushed by the instructor as well as your classmates. Win-win-win.
A few places that have me singin their praises:
Body in Balance
The very first job on Maui was coaching TRX here (Thursdays at 5pm woot!).

TRX Hip Drops
I continue to teach because I really believe in the space. The owner, Amanda, is incredible. She’s been teaching fitness since 2001, including everything from Aerial to Zumba (as well as co-leading rock climbing, kayaking, caving expeditions, and collegiate level competitive fencing). Woah I’m pooped even thinking about that.
Not only is she awesome when it comes to fitness but she also used to be a CPA. This means she has been a super big help when it comes to my business taxes as I am beyond clueless (doesn’t help Hawaii is really confusing).
Super looking forward to my girl Tasha’s upcoming Self Defense Workshop next Sunday, Jan 22nd 2-4pm! If you are not convinced that self defense is a necessary skill, here are the “Top 10 Reasons Why Everyone Should Take Self Defense Classes”.
I am also toying with potentially getting certified to teach Aerial Silks classes. I have taken these types of class before and it is SO much fun! And let’s be honest – you just look and feel like a delicate badass!
Afterglow Yoga
This place has been my savior. Goodness I’ve missed yoga as there are SO many benefits.
I did my two week Kama’aina special in October and loved it. The owner, Jasmine, is super inspiring and can build up any woman’s confidence.

My Happy Place
I also went to their blacklight yoga Halloween event at their Lahaina location. Talk about a super fun way to do yoga. I mean – bright body paint? Yes please!

Their newest students just got out of teacher training so they are hosting random free classes so they can practice on the public. Count me in! As a Group Fitness Instructor I know how nerve-racking those first few classes can be. It’s been really fun supporting the new teachers and seeing their confidence grow!
Maui CrossFit Extreme
I’ve been torn with attempting CrossFit but I am finally biting the bullet today. I always run by this place and was becoming more and more intrigued. It can be intimidating though! And I am a GFI and athlete! Gah why is it so dang intimidating?!
I wound up commenting on a photo of theirs on Instagram and the co-owner reached out to me right away to see if I wanted to come in. I committed to a one-month trial, which includes a basics class (could use me a refresher), unlimited CrossFit, bootcamp, yoga, and open gym. Wish me luck and I’ll keep ya updated on my thoughts/progress!
OrangeTheory Fitness
Man do I miss OTF. The coaching. The workout. The energy. The PEOPLE. I am not understanding why there is not one on Maui yet. It would thrive! And I would be the first at the door offering my coaching services. OH PLEASE COME TO MAUI!

Definitely want to give a shout-out to the studio that gave me my first shot as an instructor! thank you Megan for believing in me and giving me a chance! Love to see you succeed in expanding the studio and looks like you killed it at FitFest! Keep it UP!
Beach Bootcamp
I have been toying with starting one for a bit. I mean I do live on Maui aka paradise! Why we gotta workout inside all the time?! Would love to host these at a beach – sand sprints for cardio, hang the TRX for strength/core. This could be really fun! Would you come to my class or a class like this? Love me some feedback before I dive in!
