Last week I had the chance to check out a new studio – The Aviary Aerial Fitness in Northeast Minneapolis. What a fun and unique fitness concept – right?!
The equipment used is an aerial silk or yoga hammock. It is super lightweight but definitely strong enough to hold your whole body!
6:30 AM wake-up call in my aerial hammock!
Enjoy a few perks that aerial workouts provide:
They were offering free classes before their grand opening so I squeezed in two Fit Fly (Level 1) classes – one with Megan and one with Emilie. I love that fact that each instructor has a different background and approach to the type of aerial class that they teach. This allows you to try out different formats to see what you prefer.
Megan incorporated a lot of fitness moves including more TRX-based exercises. I was obviously biased towards this format as I am certified in TRX and love teaching it!

Emilie did fitness moves as well the class was just a bit hard on my left wrist as I have carpal tunnel (wah wah). A few modifications would have been nice in order to complete more moves.

There are a few types of aerial classes to try as well. Variety is the spice of life!

I would definitely recommend this studio and type of workout to anyone at any level. I felt very comfortable as a newbie to aerial and it was honestly super fun!
What new workouts have you tried lately? What have you done out of your comfort zone? Would LOVE to hear from you!
