Do you enjoy having a blast, riding your bike, camping, BBQing, having a few beers…all while contributing to a good cause?! Then I hope you hop on board and join us at next year’s MS150 bike ride!! Some of you might know about the MS150 mile bike ride and for others who don’t know–it is QUITE the amazing event!
The basics of this event are as follows:
– Friday: meet at Century College, bus up to Proctor, hit the bars.
– Saturday: bike 75 miles to Hinckley, team tent BBQs, have some fun at the casino.
– Sunday: bike 75 miles back to Century College.
Last weekend was my 5th year participating in the ride and I can picture myself doing this event for years to come! Hoping to recruit more and more friends to join in on this good time
Fundraising. In order to bike in the ride you need to raise at least $300 for MS. This can sound daunting to some to ask people for money, but it is honestly such a great cause that I feel I have heard nothing but support. If someone does not have the funds to donate a simple work of encouragement goes a long way.
My personal goal was to raise $1,000 and I surpassed that with the help of my amazing friends and family with a total of $1,140!!! Check out my Participant Page to see who these generous donors are!
I heard this event raised over $3M this year, which is incredible!!
Fun bus ride. The bus ride up to Proctor is ALWAYS a good time. Bring your fav bev of choice and meet some new people. This past year we met a few fellows who were newbies to the MS150. Why did we know this? Because they did not bring any beer. Hellooo. So, being the generous soul that I am I got them a lil tipsy off of my beer ha.

Proctor bars. Always a highlight of the trip. The Proctor bars are such a hit that they have shuttles running to and from Proctor High School. Since I am actually on Team Powerhouse, one of the main bars in Proctor, it seems to be extra fun!!

After some drinks, free popcorn, pool, and dancing to the live band we head to the karaoke bar! This of course was simply no fun at all. My favorite song of the night was definitely Team Powerhouses’ rendition of “Bohemian Rhapsody” by Queen. Simply amazing.

First ride: Saturday. Wakey wakey time! Grab some breakfast, pump up your tires, and hit the road!
Ready to ROCK!
150 miles SOUNDS impossible, but it really is not. You take breaks every 10-15 miles, which is the perfect amount of time and distance. Fill up your water-bottle, use the restroom, and grab a banana, pb&j sandwich, granola bar, etc. Seriously–the feed you A LOT! There is also one stop devoted to lunch where Subway and pizza are also offered. And it is tastes damn gooood!
Fun in Hinckley! Arriving at Hinckley Grand Casino never felt so gooood! Many teams have “team tents” set up where everyone can meet up, relax, and have some fun. Our tent had delicious pulled pork sandwiches, variety of beverages, and a masseuse! I massage is SO needed after a long day of biking.

Sunday Funday. By now you are pretty tired and sore–but also so excited for the second day and to get home. Right away on Sunday we passed two fellows who were playing super fun music and having a good time. Little did we know we would make fast friends with them and ride the next 70 miles together!

Saturday was PERFECT weather. Seriously couldn’t have asked for a better day. Very happy we ended on such a high note, so perhaps some riders won’t remember the bad conditions as much!
Last rest stop–SO CLOSE!
We Did It!!!
Was fun to join our new Toads at their tent for a couple of well-deserved beverages after the ride. We DID burn 4,400 calories after all!!
